What are we looking for?

The Lane

When I was little, my daddy formed a lane of grass in our woods, next to two huge trees. One was hollow with a big hole in the side, perfect for a fairy home, and the other was gigantic and strong. That was the one he chose for my swing. He called this place Laura's Lane. That swing became my refuge. When something hurt me, or I needed time alone, I would run to the swing, pump as hard as I could, and soar until I felt like I was flying! Then I would dream.

Sometimes I would invite Summer in and we would giggle and twist around to make the swing go sideways and twirl. When we moved away from there, I cried. I felt like I was leaving my childhood behind, but whenever I write I feel like I am back in my lane, trying to touch the sky with my toes. This is where I dream.
